Well, I wasn’t allowed out of the truck in New Orleans, they’d had 7 people shot and one was killed, so the hubby told me to stay put. Since then we’ve been to Austin, Tx, Charlotte, NC, Rochester, NY and now Buffalo, NY. It’s been chilly at night but absolutely beautiful days. We BBQ’d several times with the other drivers and generally had a wonderful, relaxing time. Moving Broadway shows is much like being semi retired. We carry lawn chairs and a bbq grill. Hubby is an excellent cook, and thank God for that, otherwise we’d starve to death. I can destroy a piece of meat faster than my always hungry dashie can eat a piece of meat. We have a Toy Fox Terrier that was supposed to be 7 to 9 lbs and now weighs almost 20 and a mini dachshund that is anything but mini, he’s over 20 lbs, more like a small standard. The toy fox is named Baby and she is the princess, she doesn’t do anything but sit and look at the world. Our dashie talks and talks and talks, he’ll tell you when he’s hungry and when the toy fox is hungry, when he needs to go out and when Baby needs to go out, etc, etc. The trip to Buffalo was uneventful, but that is what makes it a good trip. We delivered Jersey Boys and are now heading for Philadelphia, Pa to pick up our next show. It’s going to Madison, Wi and I hope they are all finished with winter up there, because driving on ice and snow is not something we relish. Stay safe, everyone.

Hi from New Orleans, it’s a beautiful day here in Louisana. We arrived in Slidell, La day before yesterday. We sat around with the other drivers and had a BBQ. A lot of the time we drive around Bobtail, sans trailer, in other words. While our truck has a sleeper area, some of the other drivers have what we like to call ‘A House’. These are more like RVs, they have showers, sinks, cabinets and a sleeping area. The sleepers are measured in inches. Ours has a 70 inch sleeper attached, so yes, I’m usually living in a 4′ x 6′ area. Some of the other drivers have 120 inch sleepers, even up to 150 inch sleepers, which are gorgeous, however they also have the price to match. Some of the larger sleepers can cost upwards of 250,000. My husband and I refuse to invest in that huge of an expense, we plan to retire someday and do not wish to spend the rest of our lives paying off our vehicle. We also plan on living underground in shipping containers, but that’s another blog. I’m hoping to get out and about the city today. Here is a shot of all the ‘Bobtails’ lined up in the truckstop parking lot.

We managed to wind our way down to Birmingham, AL. We traveled through Virgina on the Constitution Highway, VA20, past James Madison’s home. (I highly recommend this route, scenery is beautiful, spring is popping out everywhere). Along the way I got to stop by and see my youngest daughter, Katie. She has a wonderful fiancee named James and they are planning to get married in 2014. I’m sorry I don’t get to see them as often as I like, sometimes being a Mom can be hard. But I’m very proud of both of them, they work hard, take care of eachother and do the best they can with the difficulties they face in today’s ever changing world. We are traveling with another couple, very good friends, that also work with us delivering shows. All in all, this is one of our better trips, pleasant company, seeing my baby girl and more good friends to meet at the end of the trip.
Well, we made it to Baltimore, MD from Austin, Tx. We left Austin at 3 AM Monday morning and got to Baltimore by 7 AM. Next we head for New Orleans, La. This will be my first visit there, I’m looking forward to seeing the famous City of New Orleans. They are going to be having a fest of some sort, so perhaps I’ll get some decent shots.
Hi, my name is Mary Penta Robinson. I am a truck driver. My husband and I deliver Broadway Shows in the US. I took up Photography 6 yrs ago when we decided to go 18 Wheeling (also called being a paid tourist). We bought our own truck 3 yrs ago because I got tired of transferring trucks every 8 months or so. They told us we were wearing out their trucks too fast. Our first year out we drove 280,000 miles. 6 yrs later we’ve gotten over a million miles under our belts and have hit all of the lower 48 states.
This is our truck, a 2007 Freightliner Classic, 515 horsepower and 13 speeds (We added a Pittsburgh Power box which gives us 700 hp).
